A poet appreciates the opportunities of quarantine.
Poem by Beth Totten. Photo by Sue Smith Romero
It is cozy, here at home,
A balm for the soul
Nourishing creativity
Stoking home’s hearth
Eating fresh fruits
Healthy vegetables
Grown in earth’s dirt
Renewing relationships
With family and God
Lending an ear, a smile
A wave to a passing neighbor
It is necessary, to be here at home
A cure for a disease
Passed by contact
So we will stay cozy
Sheltered at home
Feeding our curiosity
Creating music and art
Just cozy
For a little while.
Beth Totten has been writing since she could hold a pencil in her hand. She hopes that her poetry speaks to others. Beth coordinates a writing group at the Canastota Public Library.
